Masterbuilt adds another smart charcoal grill to its Gravity Series lineup

Masterbuilt has provided backyard grillers with smart options that burn coal instead of pellets from 2020. Last year the company two models debuted CES is ahead, and another one will be added to them in early 2025. New Gravity Series 1150 is the larger brother of the Gravity Series 600 in the Masterbuilt line. With 1,150 square inches of cooking space, this larger model holds nearly twice as much food and offers a longer burn time of up to 15 hours. To achieve this, the Model 1150 hopper can hold up to 12 pounds of lump coal or up to 18 pounds of briquettes.

The grill gets its name from the gravity-fed hopper that allows the charcoal to naturally fall and ignite during use. The digital fan automatically maintains temperature, which can be adjusted using built-in controls or the Masterbuilt app. Like last year's Gravity Series XT, the company has moved the 1150's control panel from the shelf on the left to the front of the hopper on the right. However, the controller itself looks the same as the one on the 600, rather than the updated version found on the more expensive XT.

In addition to the increased capacity, the 1150 offers another key upgrade over the 600. Instead of a cart-style stand, you get an enclosed cabinet for additional storage. You can expect a temperature range of 225 to 700 degrees Fahrenheit, which means you can smoke low and low, sear high, and everything in between. All important grilling stats can be monitored from your phone via the above-mentioned app from anywhere. Finally, Masterbuilt offers add-ons to expand your grill's capabilities, including a pizza oven, rotisserie, and griddle insert.

Gravity Series 1150 is available now at Home Depot for $999.
