The meta and the Internet community have created the initiative for joint financing, the purpose of which is to expand the available Internet connection around the world. They announced a new project in Mobile World Congress In Barcelona, Spain. In addition, the initiatives will go to curricula that improve technical know-how of marginalized grounds, to the community of solutions for insufficiently served areas, as well as for local networks that create jobs.
This is an expansion of a non -profit organization Partnership with METAWhich began many years ago, when they worked together to improve the Internet connection in Africa, the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America by developing points of exchange of Internet exchange. These points, or IXPS, are physical places where Internet providers can exchange traffic.
META is only the first partner of the Internet community for the initiative to jointly financing, and the non-profit organization calls for more partners who can help expand this fund. “This new initiative to jointly financing the connection supported by META is a vivid example of collective actions that will help to provide significant access to more than 2 billion people around the world with insufficient or lack of Internet,” said Sally Vendworth, president and chief executive director of the Internet. “We hope that this fund plays a key role in reducing this gap and creating a more fair digital society.”
