Meta Platforms works to enable brands to fully automate and target ads using AI by the end of 2026, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources.
Currently, the Meta ad platform provides AI tools that produce variations of existing ads and make minor adaptations for targeting on Facebook and Instagram.
The next step, however, includes the development of systems that can create advertising campaigns from scratch.
According to the report, brands may soon be able to upload a product image and set a budget goal, after which Meta's AI will produce the entire ad – image, video and text included.
The system would also determine targeting parameters and suggest budget allocations.
Meta also intends to personalize ads in real time based on individual user data. For example, an advertisement for a vehicle could include the car on a snow mountain for one user, and on an urban road for another, depending on the location.
Advertising generated by AI supports the wider Meta Meta Mark Zuckerberg strategy for the development of the company.
In 2024, advertising accounted for more than 97% of Meta's total revenue, funding its AI infrastructure investments, including chips, data centers, and model training, the report noted.
“In the near future, we want to reach a world where any business will be able to tell us what objective they are trying to achieve, such as selling something or getting a new customer, how much they are ready to pay for each result, and connecting their bank account and then we do the rest for them,” Zuckerberg said at an annual share meeting last week.
While the equipment promises benefits to SMEs-many rely on meta platforms but operate on limited advertising budgets-some major advertisers remain careful.
Despite growing capabilities, images produced by AI across the industry are still prone to inaccuracies and may require significant manual refining.
Meta tools are said to rely on significant computer power and can include the development of brand-specific AI models.
Meanwhile, in April 2025, meta initiated Layoffs in his Reality Laboratories Departmentaffects workers in Oculus studios and hardware teams.
