(Reuters) – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Wednesday it had closed an investigation into Daimler (OTC: ) Truck 313,101 North American vehicles over an engine wiring concern.
The auto safety regulator has opened a probe, covering Daimler's Freightliner Cascadia trucks from the 2017-2021 model year, into reports of an engine wiring harness chafe in certain vehicles.
The main cause was a combination of insufficient installation consistency in the design and movement between the harness and the contact point such as vibration, it said.
Cracking can cause issues such as diagnostic codes, hard or no engine start conditions and reduced power or shutdowns.
No safety-related incidents were identified, NHTSA said.
