In his post Personal blogOpenAI CEO Sam Altman says that OpenAI believes in “(general artificial intelligence) that knows how to build (s)” as OpenAI is traditionally understood, and is beginning to shift its purpose toward “intelligence.”
“We love our current products, but we're here for a beautiful future,” Altman wrote in a post published late Sunday evening. “Intelligent tools can greatly accelerate scientific discovery and innovation beyond what we can do on our own, and vastly increase wealth and prosperity.”
AGI, or general artificial intelligence, is a nebulous term. But OpenAI has its own definition: “High-performance autonomous systems that empower humans in the most economically valuable tasks.” OpenAI and Microsoft, the startup's close collaborator and investor; there is Definition of AGI: AI systems that generate at least $100 billion in revenue. (When OpenAI succeeds in this, Microsoft will lose access to its technology, according to the agreement between the two companies.)
So what definition can Altman refer to? He didn't say it explicitly. But the former form is the most probable. In the post Altman writes that he thinks AI agents — AI systems that can automate certain tasks — could “enter the workforce” in conversational fashion and “transform companies' products” this year.
“Putting great tools in people's hands again and again is a huge, We continue to believe that it leads to broadly distributed results,” Altman wrote.
Maybe that's it. But it's true that today's AI technology has significant technical limitations. That's it misleading.. It does so. Mistakes are obvious to all human beings.. And that's it Incredibly expensive.
Altman seems confident that this will all be over quickly. But if there's one thing I've learned about AI over the past few years, it's that. Timetables are unpredictable..
“Over the next few years, we believe that everyone will see what we're seeing and it will be very important as we continue to increase the broad benefits and capabilities,” Altman wrote. “OpenAI can't be an ordinary company because our work makes it possible. How fortunate and humbled we are to be a part of this work.”
