The Palisades Fire in Los Angeles, California prompted mandatory evacuations as thick, heavy smoke hung over the region.
Authorities say the fire grew from 20 acres to more than 200 acres in about 20 minutes after it was reported around 10:30 a.m. local time.
The growth was fueled by fierce winds that put much of the state under a red flag warning.
