Earlier this week, Patrick Mahomes he said he didn't want to put himself at risk, and wanted to “protect himself” after suffering an apparent sprained ankle.
Now, it seems Mahomes has nothing to worry about.

Head coach Andy Reid told reporters Thursday that Mahomes will “probably” play.

The injury comes at an inopportune time with the Chiefs on a three-game stretch in 11 days due to play on Christmas Day, a rare Wednesday NFL contest.
“It's not a good feeling,” Mahomes told reporters last week about the schedule. “You never want to play this many games in this short amount of time. It's not good for your body. But, at the end of the day, it's your job, your job. You have to come to work and do it. do.
“All you can do is focus on the game. The practice you have that day,” he added. “I've been trying to prepare my body all year for this stretch. It's preparing my workouts, preparing the way you train and preparing yourself, and the coaches do a great job of taking care of us on the field. practice. We practice as hard as anybody, but they know how to play it again when they have to.”
Mahomes injured his ankle in the fourth quarter Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. X-rays were negative, but backup Carson Wentz entered the game at short notice.
Mahomes said he wanted to “be able to move” and “get out of the way” if he were to take the field this weekend.

“You don't want to go out there and take a risk. It's football. You're going to get hit, but you want to be able to defend,” Mahomes said this week.
“I don't want to limit the game plan,” Mahomes said. “That's another thing for me. I want to be able to move in the pocket so we don't stay in one spot the whole game and lead the D-line to follow it. So, I I almost got that measure and to see where I'm at, like I said, I won't know until the end of this week.”
Chiefs are in the race to stay at the top of the AFC standings. At 13-1, they have the best record in the league and a two-game lead over the Buffalo Bills for the first seed. But the Bills would hold the lead over the Chiefs if they finish with the same record as Buffalo beat Kansas City, 30-21, Nov. 17.

A win would put the Chiefs at 13-1 and close to winning the AFC title.
