Police in Pennsylvania conducting an investigation into a fire at the governor's house as arson

Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro and his family were evacuated overnight from the residence of the official governor after someone set fire to the building, the police said on Sunday.

According to the authorities, no one was injured and the fire was extinguished.

The fire broke out on the night of the first night of the Jewish Passover, which Shapiro and his family celebrated in the official residence of the governor in the capital of Harrisburg. The State Police in Pennsylvania said in a statement that although the investigation was in progress, they were “prepared to say that it was an act of arson.”

The state police did not provide any other details about the cause of the fire in the river residence, but said that it caused a “significant amount of damage” to part of the residence. The police said that Shapiro and his family were in another part of the residence.

In Shapiro's statement, perceived as a potential pretender for the White House for the Democratic Party in 2028, he said that he and his family woke up around 2 am in local time to hit the door from the State Police in Pennsylvania after the outbreak of fire.

Shapiro said that the fire office in Harrisburg was called to the residence and while they worked on burn out, the police evacuated Shapiro and his family from the residence, said Shapiro.

“Thank God no one was injured and the fire was extinguished,” Shapiro said in a statement.

On Sunday, on the southern side of the residence you can see fire injuries, primarily to a large room often used for entertainment crowds and art exhibitions. The early Sunday afternoon was the presence of the police, when the yellow tape separated from the alley and the officer led the dog in front of the iron safety fence.

Shapiro divides her time between the residence, in which the governors were located, since it was built in the 1960s and the house in Abington, about 161 kilometers to the east. In the residence he posted a photo in social media on Saturday of the Seder Seder family table.

State police investigate. The agency offered a prize of up to USD 10,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction.
