There have been some issues with Colorsoft, with some customers reportedly seeing a yellow line at the bottom of the display. This problem also occurred in our review unit. Amazon offered refunds or replacements for affected devices.
The company sent us a second sample to test, which did not have the yellow stripe. Overall, the display is warmer, making it look more like regular book pages. We have until we can test the replacement unit over a longer period to ensure the yellow stripe issue does not recur.
Page turning is fast on the seven-inch display, with a density of 300 pixels per inch (ppi) for black-and-white content and 150 ppi for color content. The device has 32 GB of internal memory and supports Audible audiobooks. Kindle Colorsoft will last up to eight weeks on a single charge, and you can top up the battery wirelessly or via USB-C.
The reader has an IPX8 rating. According to Amazon, it can withstand immersion in up to two meters of fresh water for up to 60 minutes and 0.25 meters of seawater for three minutes. So you can take Kindle Colorsoft to the pool or beach without worrying about it getting wet.
There is a zoom feature that should be useful for those who read graphic novels on Colorsoft. The automatically adjustable front light is also convenient. Another big plus is that, unlike other Kindle models, Colorsoft doesn't display ads on the lock screen by default.
