A senior Russian military officer was killed when the car exploded on Friday in the city of Balashikha east of Moscow, said the Russian investigative committee.
He called the officer Jarosław Moskalik, deputy director of the Chief Operational Director of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, and said that he had opened a criminal case in this incident.
“According to the available data, the explosion occurred as a result of the detonation of a home explosive device filled with destructive elements,” said the investigation committee in a statement.
