Sales of foreign phones in China are down 47% and Apple has spelling problems

Sales of foreign phone brands in China fell in November, according to official data released on Friday, underscoring further pressure on the economy Applethe largest international supplier of mobile phones in the country.

According to CNBC calculations based on data from the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), sales of foreign mobile phones in China amounted to 3.04 million units in November.

This represents a 47.4% decline compared to November 2023 and a 51% decline compared to October last year.

CAICT does not provide brand-specific numbers, but Apple accounts for the majority of overseas cellphone shipments to China, with competitors such as Samsung making up only a small part of the market.
