At CES 2025, Samsung announced that it's bringing the popular feature from the company's phones and tablets to its TVs.
Live Translate provides users with real-time translations for live broadcasts as it says in the box. It's not clear which of the seven languages the feature will work in at the time of release, though. In its current form, The system works by translating closed captions in a broadcast rather than listening to the audio directly.
Translate directly. was introduced. As part of the Galaxy S24 launch in early 2024, it currently works in 13 languages on the front of the handset — roughly double what the TV version is launching with.
The company has also added AI-based voice-removal audio subtitles, a feature it says is aimed at the visually impaired community. According to Samsung, the new feature includes “subtitles, It will analyze sounds and adjust the reading speed for a seamless experience.”
Both of these features are introduced for the 2025 TV line. There is no word yet on whether Samsung will offer backwards compatibility for older sets.
