
Two men were arrested after a seizure of 5 million euros (4 million pounds) cocaine in Kildare.
On Wednesday, the guard (Irish police) stopped and searched a vehicle and residential property in the Alanwood area in Kildare and approximately 72 kg of cocaine was discovered.
Men, aged in the 1950s and 1960s, were arrested in connection with facilitating and intensifying drugs for the distribution of drugs for an organized criminal group.
Subsequently, they were charged and to be before the NAAS District Court on Thursday.
Commissioner Angela Willis's assistant from the organized and serious crime said “is another significant seizure of cocaine intended for the Irish market.”
“An Garda Síochána and our law enforcement partners are committed to targeting those involved in organized drug crime, leading to harm, intimidation and violence in our communities across the country.”
