A senior figure in the Ukraine intelligence service (SBU) has been arrested on suspicion of working as a Russian agent.

The service does not name the person he said he was the head of his anti -terrorist center, but the Ukrainian media citing sources in SBU say he is Col dmytro Kozyura.

The local media showed him handcuffs while arrested by SBU Vasyl Malyuk leader.

A statement states that there are at least 14 cases in which the suspect, whom he described as a “rat” has collected and handed over information to Russia. SBU said the investigation includes audio and video monitoring as well as access to mobile phones and computers.

After the full invasion of Russia in February 2022, Ukraine announced numerous operations to expose Russian agents on its soil.

Malik had personally participated in the investigation of the suspect and headed the operation to arrest him, the SBU statement said, adding that he was directly reporting his progress to President Volodimir Zelenski.

It says that the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) has appointed him in Vienna in 2018. He has been a “motorcycle” for several years and his leaders have resumed contact with him last December.

“Thanks to the encrypted program bookmarks, we have entered the traitor's gadgets – mobile terminals, computers,” Malik said in a video statement posted on the SBU website.

“In principle, we lived with it, conducted audio and video monitoring. In the process of all this, we were able to effectively document the collection and transmission of relevant information from the traitor of the enemy.”

Malyuk added that SBU feeds Moscow's misinformation during the investigation.

“The SBU suicide goes on. No matter how the enemy tries to penetrate our ranks … He won't be able to do it successfully. Because we find them in a timely manner, document them and hold them.”
