The alleged suspect drove into the cheering crowd New Year's Eve In New Orleans, Louisiana, which killed at least 10 people and injured many, has been identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar by the FBI.
Jabbar—who died at the scene of the attack—is a US-born citizen he lived in TexasFBI Special Assistant Alethea Duncan said at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
The FBI also revealed that Jabbar is a soldier.
“What I can tell you, that person was a veteran,” Duncan said. “We believe it was (is) an honorable release. But we are still working through this process to get all this information.”

Jabbar was charged with two minor crimes in 2002 and 2005, according to documents reviewed by Fox News Digital.
In 2002, he was charged by wrongful theft Katy, Texas in 2005 for driving with an invalid license.
