SEOUL (Reuters) – South Korean investigators again asked the country's acting president on Saturday to order the presidential security service to comply with an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol.
The security service, along with military forces, on Friday prevented prosecutors from arresting Yoon Suk Yeol during a six-hour period inside Yoon's home. Investigators obtained a warrant to arrest Yoon for his brief declaration of martial law last month.
The Office of Corruption Investigation on Saturday also asked Acting President Choi Sang-mok, the nation's finance minister, to order the presidential security service to cooperate with the warrant.
A spokesman for the finance ministry declined to comment.
Yoon's declaration of war on December 3 shocked South Korea and led to the issuance of the first arrest warrant for a sitting president.
