Steph Curry of the Warriors has been made clear about his retirement from the NBA

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry remains one of the most popular figures in the NBA.

While Curry continues to perform at the highest level on the basketball court, he is also 36 years old, and next year will mark the end of his 16th season in the league. Even the fourth season NBA champion acknowledged that he is closer to the end of his career than he was at the beginning, Curry said he can enjoy living in the moment.

“More than I could before,” he said during sit down with ESPN while discussing his NBA future. “I think, you know, it's good to accept and believe that the end is near, no matter what the point. But only because it allows you to enjoy what's happening now. But I think the more you talk about it, you accept it more, heightens the sense of urgency of the moment.”

“It's about believing that, OK, me and (Warrior teammate) Draymond (Green) are in our situation. We're, you know, in a situation where you have to think about the game a little bit differently. But if you don't win, the answer is, 'How do we make this happen for me?' I have only a few years left, and I want to win with strength, and what helps us to understand,” he said.

The Warriors failed to qualify for the playoffs last season after losing in the NBA Play-In tournament. Curry and his teammates want to avoid a repeat of that this year, and February's trade deadline could be crucial for their 2024-2025 hopes.

The Christmas Day game between the Warriors and Lakers is scheduled to tip off at 8pm ET.
