The College football game quarterfinal match between No. 2 Georgia and No. 3 Notre Dame was engulfed in tragedy early Wednesday morning when an unidentified driver plowed into a large crowd of New Year's Eve revelers on Bourbon Street, killing at least 10 people and injuring others. more than two more, according to New Orleans officials.
The horrific attack, which the FBI is investigating as an act of terror, happened as thousands of college football fans headed to the historic city for Wednesday night's game. Caesars Superdome.

Allstate Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley released a statement Wednesday sharing his condolences for the victims. He added that the organizers are continuing to work with the authorities before the start.

“The Cup of Sugar The committee has been overwhelmed by the horrific events since this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. We are in ongoing discussions with local, state and federal officials and will provide more information as it becomes available. ”
Concerns about pre-game security have become a major concern. The Superdome, which is home to New Orleans Saints, it has a capacity of more than 80,000.
At a press conference Wednesday morning, Police Commissioner Anne Kirkpatrick appeared to indicate the game would go ahead as planned.

The New Orleans Police Department said in their latest statement that a driver killed at least 10 people and injured 35 others after plowing into a crowd of people in the early hours of New Year's Day.
The suspect, who has not been identified, opened fire with law enforcement, hitting two officers before being killed.

The FBI said that improvised explosive devices had been found and that investigators were working to confirm whether the devices worked.
Wednesday's game is scheduled to begin at 8:45 pm ET.
