A teacher has stabbed a fatal eight -year -old girl at a primary school in South Korea, in an incident that shocked the nation.
The teacher of the woman, who is her 40s, admitted that he stabbed the student in the central Dayon, police said.
The girl was found with stab wounds on the second floor of a school building at 18:00 local time (09:00 GMT) on Monday and was declared dead at the hospital. The teacher was next to her with stab wounds, which police said he could be self -inflicted.
South Korea President Choi Sang-Mock on Tuesday ordered an investigation into the case and called on the authorities to “implement the necessary measures to ensure that such incidents never occur again.”
Some locals laid flowers and a stuffed doll at the school gate, which was closed on Tuesday.
The teacher requested a six-month absence leave, citing depression on December 9, but she returned to school just 20 days later after a doctor rated her as a fit for work, Daejeon's educational office reported.
She had no connection with the student, the authorities said.
Days before the piercing, the Master manifested violent behavior, including putting another teacher in the head, they said.
Two officers from the education office visited the school on Monday, the morning of the piercing to investigate this dispute.

The student was reported to have disappeared on Monday night after the bus driver informs the school that it did not arrive to be taken that day.
Police also said they would continue to question the teacher after she recovered from her operation.
Following the attack on a colleague, the educational office recommended that the teacher take leave and be physically separated by the other teacher.
She was made to sit next to the deputy director's desk so that she could be kept careful.
In addition, she did not teach any classes after her vacation in December and had no contact with the eight -year -old student, the employee said.
South Korea is generally a safe side with strict Crontrol pistol laws. But in recent years, she has been fighting several high -profile crimes, including piercing.
“It hurts me to see such an incident because a school must be our most secure space,” said President Choi player. “I offer my deep condolences to the victim's family, which has suffered great shock and agony.”
