The sunnoted 18th century boat was discovered by accident near the majestic walls of the medieval city of Dubrovnik Croatia.
In April, Ivan Bukelic worked on the water pipeline in the old port of Dubrovnik when he found a wooden structure buried at the seafloor.
“Now I can say that I have discovered a boat in the old town of Dubrovnik,” said Bukelik, who is a diver and a underwater builder from Dubrovnik.
He added that the dishes were less than three feet under the sea bottom.
A key trading port in the Adriatic in medieval times, Dubrovnik was announced by UNESCO heritage. It attracts a huge crowd of tourists, especially in the summer, as well as known as the HBO series film “Game of Thrones”.
The remnants of the boat in the old port of Dubrovnik were protected for further examination.
“We still can't talk about the type of vessel or its measurement, but we can say probably based on the results of radio -carbon analysis that it has been since the end of the 18th century,” a marine archaeologist Irena Radik Rossi said.
Rosic Rossi said the purpose is to continue research with the Croatian Ministry of Culture: “We must protect it for the future.”

Known as “Pearl of Adriatic”, Dubrovnik became an important Mediterranean Sea in the 13th century further, reports UNESCO. The city was badly damaged by the earthquake in 1667, but was able to preserve its ancient churches, palaces and fountains.
The opening means the second time this month when the authorities announced the chance to open a centuries -old shipwreck in Europe.
