One of the four bodies returned from Gaza to Israel on Thursday is not a hostage to Bibas, as Hamas claims, the Israeli military reported.
The news that Bibs widen, 33 years old, and her two sons, Ariel and KFI, who will now be five and two years old, were dead, sparked a pouring of grief in Israel.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) inform the Bibass family that the bodies of her sons have been identified after their remains were given to Israel by Hamas on Thursday.
But the third body was not their mother, IDF says.
Hamas has not yet commented on Israel's claim.
“During the identification process, it was found that the additional body received was not that of Bibs Shiri and no coincidence was found for another hostage. This is an anonymous, unidentified body,” IDF published at X.
“This is a violation of the maximum burden of the Hamas terrorist organization, which is obliged to return four deceased hostages. We require Hamas to return to home with all our hostages.”
Shiri, Ariel and CFI Bibas were 32, four and nine months when they were abducted during Hamas' attacks against Israel on October 7, 2023.
The 34 -year -old father of the children Yarden Bibas was released by Hamas on February 1st.
Israel confirmed that the fourth organ, which returned Thursday, was of veteran peaceful activist Oded Lifshitz.
The liberation of the hostage bodies was agreed as part of the fire termination transaction, which came into force on January 19th. Israel confirmed that there would be eight.
The two sides agreed to exchange 33 hostages for about 1900 prisoners by the end of the first six weeks of the termination of fire.
Conversations about progress in the next phase of the transaction – in which the other living hostages will be released and the war will end permanently – they had to start earlier this month, but they have not yet begun.
So far, twenty -eight hostages and more than 1,000 prisoners have been exchanged.
Sixty -six hostages, taken on October 7, are still held in Gaza. Three other hostages were also held, taken more than a decade ago. About half of all hostages still in gas is thought to be alive.
About 1,200 people – mostly civilians – were killed in Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023 and 251 others returned to Gaza as hostages. Israel has launched a large -scale military campaign against Hamas in response, which died at least 48 297 Palestinians – mainly civilians – according to Hamas Health Ministry.
