The artist who painted American President Donald Trump in what he criticized as a “twisted” picture “said his statement hurt his business.
Colorado removed Trump's official photo from the Capitol government building last month after the president complained that it was not intentionally known.
“No one likes the wrong picture or their painting, but that of Colorado, in the province of Capitol … along with all the other presidents, it was deliberately distorted,” Trump wrote on his Social Truth platform on March 24.
“The artist also made President Obama, and he looks good, but the one above me is the worst,” Trump said.
The 78 -year -old Republican wanted the oil painting to be taken, and said the artist, Sarah Boardman, “must have lost his talent when he was old.”
The Democrat-controlled Colorado parliament said on the same day by Trump's complaint that the painting would be removed from the gallery in the Capitol Rotunda-where it had been hanging since 2019-and placed on storage.
Boardman has responded to Trump's criticism in a statement on his website, saying he has completed the task “correctly, without 'distorting the purpose,' political bias, or any attempt to calm the topic, actual or indicated.”
“President Trump deserves to comment freely, as we are all, but the additional claims that 'misleading' the picture, and that I 'must have lost my talent as I am old' is now straightforward and negatively affecting my business over 41,” the British -born artist said.
Boardman added in a clear statement that for six years that Trump's image was hung in Colorado Capitol, “received a positive comment” on the work ordered.
However, since Trump's opinion “that has changed to the worst,” he said.
In addition to Trump and former president Barack Obama, the Boardman was also instructed to paint a picture of former president George W. Bush.
