Tanner Charles and his friend were at home trying to make their house as fireproof as possible when the Palisades Fire began to approach. They filmed the moment they were forced to leave, running down a street lined with burning homes.
The Palisades fire, one of several burning in Los Angeles, exploded in size late Tuesday as strong winds lashed northwest Los Angeles. It has already claimed at least 1,000 buildings and forced more than 30,000 residents to evacuate.
President Joe Biden approved a major disaster declaration for California on Wednesday, which will allow residents to have immediate access to funds and resources for their recovery.
