The Pakistani Army says 300 hostages are released from the train

Pakistan's army says it has released more than 300 hostages from a passenger train seized by fighters in Belokistan province on Tuesday.

The military spokesman said 33 fighters were killed during the operation.

Twenty -one civilian hostages and four troops were killed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BL) before the operation began, the military spokesman said.

The military continues their search operation in the area to rule out all other threats.

Pakistani authorities – as well as several Western countries, including the UK and the United States – have identified BLA as a terrorist organization.

BLA is one of the rebel groups requiring either more autonomy or independence for Belokistan, the largest province in Pakistan.

They blame Islamabad into operation of the rich mineral resources of the province, while neglecting it. In the past, they have attacked military camps, railway stations and trains – but this is the first time they have a train.

At least 100 of those on the train were members of the security forces, staff said.
