The rise of stand-up comedy in India: Fresh talent steps up to the mic




From performing at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall to conquering the Edinburgh Fringe, Indian stand-up comedians have made it big globally. Last year, Veer Das became the first Indian comedian to host the International Emmy Awards. But in India, where the government is led by Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi, political satirists face online threats and bullying on a daily basis.
