Thousands of Amazon workers organized under supervision Teamsters Union It went on strike at 6am on Thursday after the company's “repeated refusal to comply with the law and deal”.
Amazon teams in seven centers in Skokie, Illinois. New York City; Atlanta; San Francisco; Southern California is participating in the “largest strike” against the trillion-dollar company in U.S. history, the union said in a statement. Workers from other centers are ready to join them.
Although Teamsters says it represents about 10,000 people at Amazon's 10 U.S. facilities, the company does not recognize workers' union affiliation.
Amazon spokeswoman Kelly Nantel told Fox Business in a statement that the Teamsters union is “intentionally (deceiving) people” because they do not represent Amazon employees and drivers.

Teamsters spokeswoman Cara Deniz responded to Amazon's statement, saying the company is “setting the American public on fire with its false narratives.”
“The truth is that more than 20 bargaining units, representing nearly 9,000 employees, have successfully organized because the company has been exploiting and abusing workers for years, and these workers are fed up and are fighting.”

The strike comes after the Teamsters say Amazon is ignoring a Dec. 15 union deadline to negotiate new contracts for higher wages, better benefits and safer working conditions.

In an X post Wednesday night, the Teamsters said Amazon workers have run out of patience with the company and are “prepared to strike” to win the contract they deserve.
“What we're doing is historic,” said Leah Pensler, a warehouse worker at DCK6 in San Francisco. “We are fighting a vicious campaign to destroy unions and we will win.”
