Israel conducted “genocidal acts” against Palestinians through the systematic destruction of women's health care during the conflict in gas and used sexual violence as a war strategy, UN experts say in the new report.
In its report published on Thursday, the Independent International Investigation Commission in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Eastern Jerusalem, and Israel said that the use of heavy explosives in civil and Israeli attacks on hospitals and healthcare facilities.
He said that all three led to “disproportionate violence against women and children.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the report's findings saying that they are biased and anti -Semitic.
“Instead of focusing on crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by the Hamas terrorist organization … The United Nations once again decides to attack Israel with false accusations,” he said in a statement.
Israel broke away from the Human Rights Council in February.
“The Israeli authorities partly destroyed the reproductive capacity of Palestinians in Gaza as a group, including by imposing actions aimed at preventing birth, one of the categories of genocidal acts in the Rome act and genocidal convention,” said the UN report.
The Commission said that these activities, in addition to the increase in death of motherhood due to limited access to medical resources, constituted a crime against human extermination.
The report accused Israeli security forces of forced public dismantling and sexual assault under standard operational procedures to punish Palestinians after Hamas attacks to southern Israel in October 2023.
The resulting war in the Gaza Zone killed over 48,000 Palestinians, according to health officials in Gaza.
IDF claims that the rules “prohibit such improper proceedings”
The Commission also accused Israeli security forces of rape and sexual violence against Palestinian detainees. Israel denies any systematic abuse of prisoners and claims that he is taking action when violations appear.
Israel rejected the accusations.
“IDF (Israeli defense forces) has specific directives … and policies that clearly prohibit such improper proceedings,” answered the UN constant mission in Geneva in a statement, adding that his review processes are in line with international standards.
In the previous report published by the Commission in June 2024, he accused Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups of serious violations of laws in attacks in 2023, which killed 1,200 people and led to 251 hostages, in accordance with Israeli.
In March last year, a team of UN experts stated that “reasonable grounds for the court” sexual violence, including rape, took place in several locations during the assault of a group of fighters.
The commission is run by the former UN Chief of Human Rights Navi Pillay. Its findings can be used as evidence for the International Criminal Court or other bodies that try to pursue war crimes.
Palestinian officials say that people in gas may soon be missing pure drinking water. After Israel cut off the supply of electricity to Gaza this weekend, the desalination factory in Deir Al-Balah works on about 30 % of capacity for spare generators.
Israel is a party to the genocidal convention and was ordered in January 2024 by the International Court of Justice to take action to prevent the genocide during the war against Hamas.
This is not a party to Rome, which gives international jurisdiction of the Criminal Court to govern individual criminal matters regarding genocide and crimes against humanity.
The Republic of South Africa brought a case about genocide against Israel's actions in Gaza in the International Court of Justice.
