A Bengaluru-based software engineer had a laugh out loud on social media after sharing an unexpected conversation with his former maths professor. Proving that some professors or their math files are never forgotten, Professional Connection, now Professional Connection, posted screenshots of their year-long exchange on X (formerly Twitter).
The post began with a self-deprecating headline: “They still think I'm a failure.” “Then a snap of the chat, starting in April 2018 to his professor in his first year.
In one message Neil asked: “Ma'am, this is Neil A from 1, fe. Will you accept the math files today?” replied the professor, “Signature only.” In another text on the same day, “Ma'am, have you come to the university today? We need to submit our files.” This time there was no response.
Fast forward to 2024, three years after Neil graduated when his professor suddenly texted him: “Neil, are you in college today?”
“What is this? I said goodbye in 2021.” The professor's response? “Okay, I thought you were on the 8th.”
The internet loved it. “Missing your name was a combo insult,” joked one user. Another exclaimed, “This is ridiculous!” One engineer even shared his own anecdote: “An interviewer once asked me about my board results… I'm in my third year of engineering.”
For many, memories of the post, post-Quirky professor-student exchange were disturbing. As one user put it, “There's a reason some people don't delete old chats. Gems like this are worth saving!”
Another user also shared a similar experience “One of our final year faculty called me and the project deadline was approaching and I still submitted my project but they wanted to get my number. Saved.”
In a similar thread, a fourth user wrote, “I was asked by a relative in engineering on my 3rd day.
Neil's post highlights the humorous side of student life that resonates long after graduation. Some interactions can be mocked from time to time, due to some interactions – mock files or incorrect timing.
