Trump administration fires four-star Coast Guard chief over firing | Donald Trump News


Linda Fagan, the first woman to head a branch of the US Armed Forces, was among those fired by Trump on his first day.

The head of the United States Coast Guard has been removed from his post, as is the new President Donald Trump he is following through on his promise to remove government officials.

On Tuesday, US media published reports that four-star Admiral Linda Fagan was fired less than 24 hours after Trump took office.

He was among those fired as Trump sought to quickly reshuffle the executive branch, issuing a catchphrase from his time as a TV personality: “You're fired.”

Fox News was the first to report Fagan's dismissal. In 2022, Fagan became the first woman in uniform to lead a branch of the US Armed Forces.

According to statements sent to Coast Guard units and obtained by The New York Times, incoming inspectors found Fagan unfit for several reasons.

“They were terminated due to lack of leadership, poor performance and failure to advance the goals of the US Coast Guard,” he said.

He added that Fagan had pursued “a lot of focus”. diversity, equity and inclusion policiesknown by the acronym DEI.

Trump has promised to end DEI programs in the federal government, calling them “illegal and immoral”.

On Monday night, shortly after being sworn in, Trump issued an executive order to that effect, calling on federal agencies to “end” DEI efforts.

“The public release of these plans exposed public waste and shameful discrimination,” he said he wrote.

Fagan was one of several officials who met with Trump on his first and second day in office.

Late Monday night, Trump tweeted a message on his platform Truth Social mocks shooters.

“My Office of the President is working to identify and remove over a thousand Presidential Candidates from the previous Administration, who do not align with our vision of Make America Great Again,” he wrote.

The post identified four people to whom Trump sent the following message: “YOU'RE OUT.”

They included General Mark Milley, a former Trump critic who told reporter Bob Woodward that the Republican leader was a “fascist to the core”.

Another notable figure in this role was Spanish-American chef Jose Andres, founder of World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit that provides food in disaster areas.

Andres served on the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition under Trump, Democrat Joe Biden, and Biden awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom earlier this month for his humanitarian work.

The chef applauded when Trump tweeted “YOU'RE FIRED” as he faced his challenge on Tuesday.

“I submitted my application last week … my two-year term was over,” Andres he wrotethe sentence followed by laughing and cheering emojis.

“God grant you the wisdom, Mr. President, to put aside politics and names … and instead lift up the people who are working to bring America together.”
