US President Donald Trump on Tuesday appeared to propose policy changes to Iran, suggesting that China – one of Iran's few allies and a major trade partner – will be allowed to buy Iranian oil.
In Social media post on TuesdayTrump wrote that “China can now continue to buy oil from Iran.” That could be a major change in American policy, which has tried to force Iran's oil trade with the rest of the world, as well as China.
The White White House later explained to the media that Trump was “focusing on the fact that, because of his deciding steps to end Iran's nuclear equipment and broker to stop the fighting between Israel and Iran, Hormuz's Strait would not be affected, which would be worse for China.” The official also confirmed that American sanctions on Iranian oil imports remain in place.
China currently buys around 90% of Iran's oil sales, according to Reuters. However, because of American sanctions on Iran, these oils are shipped in shadow ships outside of controlled shipping systems. Traders then connect the country of origin before selling it for free cleaning equipment in China. These “teapot” devices also often do this business in China's Yuan, Prevent use of the financial system of the American Empire.
Barriers to Iranian oil are an important part of the American “pressure” campaign against Iran, followed by Trump during his first period and back in February. In Early MayTrump threatened to impose secondary restrictions on those buying “any amount of oil or petrochemicals from Iran.”
China has not officially agreed to buy oil from Iran Since 2022.
Still, on Tuesday, Trump also suggested that Beijing should consider another source of his oil. “I hope, they will be buying a lot (oil) from America,” he wrote on social media on Tuesday.
“The president continues to call on China and all countries to import our high -quality oil,” an unnamed White House official told Reuters.
China currently produces only 2% of its oil from America, compared to about 14% from Iran. Beijing also issued a 10% tariff on American oil earlier this year, responding to Trump's 20% tariffs on Chinese goods, related to fentanyl claims.
Brent Crude is high by about 0.6%, to 5:30 am in the East, when traders evaluate the ceasefire between Iran and Israel. Despite allegations of fighting for fighting with both sides on Tuesday, the trick appeared to hold on Wednesday.
Trump on Wednesday claimed that American strikes over the weekend had set up Iran's nuclear program and “decades,” unlike Previously American advice reports Recommending they had resulted in delays for a few months.
