Two killed in Donetsk after Ukrainian strike on supermarket, Russian news agencies say Reuters

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Ukrainian forces attacked a supermarket on Friday in the Russian city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine in an attack that used US-supplied missiles and wounded two people, a senior Russian-backed official said.

There was no immediate comment from Ukraine and Reuters could not immediately confirm the report.

Unverified photos posted on social media showed a burnt-out car in front of a two-storey circular building surrounded by debris.

Dashcam footage posted by a nearby driver emerged to show the moment the supermarket – called Moloko (milk) – was hit, with huge explosions and flames shooting into the sky.

Reuters was able to confirm the location from nearby building facades, signage and street layouts that matched satellite images and street view images. The date has been confirmed by the time stamp on the image.

Denis Pushilin, a senior Russian-backed official, accused the Ukrainian military of firing US-supplied HIMARS missiles into the area during the early morning rush.

Russia's TASS news agency said about 15 other buildings and cars were damaged in the same attack.

Pushilin said in his official Telegram account that a building in the town of Svitlodarsk in the Donetsk region was hit again by Ukrainian forces, killing one woman and injuring four others.
