The best performers of the session were Vistry Group PLC (LON:), which rose 2.83% or 15.50 points to trade at 563.00 at the close. For now, The middle PLC (LON:) added 2.21% or 2.85 points to end at 131.85 and Diageo PLC (LON:) was up 1.50% or 37.50 points to 2,535.00 in late trade.
The worst performers in the session were Next PLC (LON:), which fell 2.60% or 256.00 points to trade at 9,590.00 at the close. Company Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON:) declined 2.34% or 90.00 points to end at 3,764.00 and Croda PLC International (LON: ) was down 2.12% or 73.00 points to 3,379.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 931 to 799 and 697 ended unchanged.
Gold futures for February delivery were down 0.89% or 23.54 to $2,630.36 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude oil for February delivery rose 0.83% or 0.58 to hit 70.20 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.53 to trade at 73.38 of dollars.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.28% at 1.26, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.29% to 0.83.
US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.03% at 107.86.
