The Ukrainian forces captivated two Chinese citizens who fought for the Russian army in the eastern part of Ukraine, said President Volodimir Zelenski.
The Ukrainian president said intelligence suggests that the number of Chinese soldiers in the Russia army is “much larger than two”.
Ukraine Foreign Minister Andrius Sibiha said Chinese troops fighting Ukrainian territory “question China's declared position for peace” and added that their envoy in Kiev was called for an explanation.

In a statement from the social media platform X, Zelenski said the soldiers were captured in the eastern Donetsk of Ukraine with identification documents, including bank cards that have “personal data” on them.

The post was accompanied by a video showing one of the alleged Chinese captives with handcuffs, speaking a mandarin Chinese and apparently describing a recent battle.
“We have information that suggests that there are many more Chinese citizens in the resident units than just those two,” he said.
“Russia's participation in China, along with other countries, whether directly or indirectly, in this war in Europe is a clear signal that Putin intends to do anything but to end the war,” he said.
Zelenski called for the answer “from the US, Europe and all those in the world who want peace.”
An investigation is currently underway and the captives are currently in the arrest of Ukraine's security of Ukraine, he added.
The foreign minister of Ukraine said he had called China's accusation in Kiev to “ask for an explanation”.
Writing to X, Andrius Sibiha said: “We categorically condemn Russia's participation to Chinese citizens in its war of aggression against Ukraine, as well as their participation in a battle against Ukrainian forces.”
He added: “Chinese citizens who are fighting as part of the Russia invasion army in Ukraine are questioned by China's announced position for peace and undermine Beijing's confidence as a responsible permanent member of the UN Security Council.”
