The Lancaster House may be bathed in the sun as European leaders have gathered to outline the way to Ukraine.
But above the summit there was a cloud against the splendor of the gilded by the former royal city house in central London.
It came in the form of a question – was it worth it? Was this collection of European powers enough to displace the diplomatic dial? Or have the United States decided to do it themselves to find a fire in Ukraine?
The Prime Minister's response was many that Europe still had a role. He said the UK, France and others will work with Ukraine on plan to stop fighting and then discuss this plan with the USS

He said that Europe will support military assistance now, and in the event of a peaceful deal, it will strengthen Ukraine's own defense capabilities by building the country's “armed forces and border protection” to ensure that “Ukraine can use ammunition, finance and equipment to protect itself,” according to official conclusions.
And Sir Keyer said there would be a “coalition of desire” to protect Ukraine and guarantee peace.
Who or what would include this is not yet clear. The prime minister simply said that there would be “force consisting of European and other partners”.
The United Kingdom and France have already said they would be ready to put boots on the ground in Ukraine to help discontinue Russian aggression.
The head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said the goal is to become Ukraine into a “steel dicrobra, which is undoubted to potential invaders.”

The goal seems to increase the European proposal for follow -up security guarantees of Ukraine in an attempt to persuade Donald Trump to promise an American military back.
Until now, the president is not inclined to walk on this route, suggesting that the presence of US mining companies on the spot in Ukraine would be enough to keep peace.
Sir Keyer does not share this opinion, saying explicitly “to support the peace of our continent and to succeed, this effort must have strong support for us.”
This summit in many ways was an attempt by Europe to take some ownership of diplomacy. In recent weeks, efforts to end the fight in Ukraine have been led by Trump, who spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and in his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski.
Europeans also wanted to find ways to repair the transatlantic alliance, which looks quite fragile after the confrontation between Trump and Zelenski in the Oval Cabinet on Friday.
In recent weeks, the US administration has passed after its European allies; Asking their democracy, voting against them in the United Nations organization and – in the form of President Elon Musk's chief contractor – saying that even the United States should leave NATO's military alliance.
The London summit was an attempt by the Prime Minister to calm diplomatic eyebrows and to strengthen diplomatic blue. Diplomats said there was a clear determination around the table to support Ukraine, but also to upgrade Trump's desire to find the fire.
But Europe is only half of the history and a lot depends on whether the US is ready to play their role.
Diplomats say the United States is ready to de -escalate tensions with Zelenski, but there were mixed messages on Sunday. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said America is ready to engage with Ukraine, but national security adviser Mike Walz suggested that Zelenski may have to resign as part of any ceasefire.
Thus, the result of the House Lancaster summit was at first glance a United European Front in support of Zelenski, with the promise of more military support for the upcoming Ukraine.
But the cloud lurking in the sky in London remains what the United States is doing further. And this is not yet clear. Trump and his deputy made their antipathy to Zelenski as clear as their confidence in Putin.
