What if Nintendo Switch 2 is too large?

Switch 2 is a big boy. This was my main conclusion from Nintendo. The long -awaited discovery your next portable device. How could you see this trailer and stay with a different impression? It doesn't seem that Nintendo has shown something else. Of course, there was a slide on reverse compatibility, but the difference in size between the two systems was noticeable even there. This made me think: how much can it be too big? And did Nintendo pay attention to the wrong choice of design?

If you followed all the leaks before the release, you knew that this would happen. Yes, of course, it was, but I still hoped that the rumors of an 8-inch display were erroneous. I am a relative newcomer in Switch. My friend and I divided the cost During Black Friday 2024. Since then, this has become one of my favorite ways to play games, largely due to its portable.

Switch OLED is not as powerful as my gaming computer, but I can curl up and play games with it, lying on the couch. It is also small enough to fit in my backpack of 15 liters, which makes it ideal for travel. I also like OLED screen. This makes each game better, to such an extent that I can forgive some of the bad operation of the system.

On paper, Switch 2 should save at least part of the portable of the OLED model, but I wonder how easy it will be to transport it. Keep in mind that if Switch 2 will be delivered with a 8-inch display, it will have a larger screen than OLED steam panel. Steam Deck, like Switch, is a portable device, but I would say that it is not portable in the true sense of the word.

Once I tried to collect Steam Deck on a trip, but refused it, because I found that it was impossible to put it in a bag with everything else that I had to take with me. Since then, I have not tried to travel with Steam Deck anymore. It’s too early to talk about whether Switch 2 will suffer from the same problem, and it looks relatively thin, but depending on how much it weighs, I suspect that many people will use it almost exclusively at home.

In fact, this is not so bad, but Switch genius is that it contributes to a joint game. I am almost certainly in the minority, but the tablet mode is one of my favorite ways to play Switch. During the recent flight, my girlfriend and I flew to Europe, Switch was a real find on the plane without any entertainment in flight.

I know that Switch 2 will have a tablet mode, like its predecessor, but I wonder how many people take this opportunity with a larger and heavy device? I see that it goes in two ways. Either the larger screen makes this function more attractive, or more and more people leave their Switch 2 houses, because it is inconvenient to carry with them.

Another big unknown is the time of autonomous work. If Switch 2 is equipped with an 8-nm chip in combination with the LCD-display 1080p, how rumors go, it is likely that its battery will not last as long as Switch OLED. Before Nintendo released “In the version of the original model, and then Switch OLED, the battery life was not a strong side of the console, and I suspect that Switch 2 will not be the same either.

There is still So many unknown As for Switch 2, but in the recent announcement of the console I was struck by the fact that I was not completely sure that this would be a clear update compared to Switch OLED. Obviously, Switch 2 will offer a much higher performance and, it seems, a much more solid Joy-Cons set, but I am not enthusiastic about the system that could be more, with the worst screen and time of autonomous work. If these forecasts are true, I will probably adhere to my Switch OLED until Nintendo announces Switch 2 Lite or Switch 2 OLED.
