Your Patron's favorite creators will soon be able to live on the platform


Patron, the service that allows artists and creators to provide exclusive subscriber content, is launching a new tool that allows creators to live naturally on the platform.

The company said the post intends to allow creators to connect with their audiences in real time, whether it is an author hosting Q&A about the newly published book or musicians who test new music for their fans.

“Until now, the creators had to go live on platforms that were not designed to prioritize their businesses,” the company said in a statement. “We change this: because it is built directly in the patron, the creators will not have to compete with crowded sources, distract ads or anything else that will be found in connecting creators to their basic fans.”

Some can access function this week

The creators will be able to go live through the Patreon mobile application or the desktop, with free or paid access options, allowing them to adjust the growth currents for the audience or earnings, according to the company.

The platform also adds live conversations for real -time conversations, reactions to emoticons that appear during the video player and moderation tools that allow creators to set the tone for their communities.

The creators will also have the opportunity to share Livestream footage with fans who missed the event or download videos to use other platforms.

Patraon said some creators would get early access to the post as soon as this week with a wider range planned for later this summer.

Will Patraon's creators use it?

“It is interesting, but I will not use this yet,” said Luke Vestaway, content creator, patron user and former CNET editor.

Vestaway says he appreciates the consistency for his subscribers.

“I am doing weekly frescoes on YouTube only for the patrons they approach through a built -in Patreon Post player, and in my experience, Patra's subscribers value consistency and predictability in their content and I am very cautious about everything that changes as they approach it,” he said. “This, he said, has some features that you just can't make on YouTube, such as the promised opportunity to sell streams after the fact like a one -off vod purchase, which can be cool.”

Vestaway has an established account, but he admits that new users may feel differently.

“If I started Patraon today, I might be inclined to devote myself, but for now I think I just have to wait, look and see if she works, and if the patron still looks dedicated to it for 12 months,” he said.
