Actor and longtime Los Angeles resident Zechariah Levi he has expressed strong criticism as California battles devastating fires, urging state leaders to take responsibility and describing the situation as “humane” to him.
“This is the most destructive fire in the history of Los Angeles,” a visibly shaken Levi said.Jesse Watters Primetime” Wednesday night. “My family is from Ventura, California. I grew up there most of my life, and then I was in LA for 15 years.”
He went on to compare the devastating wildfires in the news to “watching a post-apocalyptic war movie.”
Levi said why he believed California Governor Gavin NewsomLos Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and state leadership must be held accountable.
“This is incredibly poor performance, incredibly poor leadership. I'll go so far as to say it's criminal because, I mean, Gavin Newsom has been governor for five years or lieutenant governor before there in eight, nine years, some of the worst fires we've had in California under that watch. You know very well that the biggest problem we're having in California is these mud fires what next,” Levi explained.

“And for them to not only do nothing, but worse than nothing, when the fire department budgets are reduced, when in particular, they deliberately do not do the work that can be done to avoid these problems or to be able to to serve them successfully is happening.”
“There's something almost criminal about this. Like, what are they doing? I don't know,” Levi asked.
“I don't know why they do or don't do the things they do. But they have to take responsibility. This is not good leadership,” he added.

What does that say about the character of this man who did nothing to help the people of California, I don't believe he is,” said Levi. “And so I think there needs to be some kind of, you know, the responsibility held in leadership and not only of California, but also of our nation, you know?”

Levi says he considers fire insurance to be “the ultimate crime” in that situation.
“I don't know if you know this, but like 70% or more of the insured in Southern California who had fire insurance on their homes in the past months, this insurance was revoked,” Levi said. he said. “The insurance company said, no, we're not going to provide fire insurance anymore. What do they need to do with flood insurance and fire insurance? This is a fire risk. In fact, that's the insurance they need. And they need it. And in the last few months, this has been taken away from people like it's not right.
He urged people to keep the people of Southern California affected by the fires in their thoughts and prayers. “We need to send as much love, light and support as we can to everyone affected right now,” Levi said.
