Here is the latest Man Utd team news ahead of their quarter-final at Spurs.
Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Victor Lindelof have all returned to the fold in recent weeks, and Jonny Evans was also available for selection. The veteran defender returned to the training pitch last week, but he was not included in the matchday squads against Viktoria Plzen and Man City.
Evans could make the trip to north London on Thursday, but Amorim could turn to the youngsters to fill the final two spots on his bench.
Luke Shaw suffered another setback at the end of November, with the left-back troubled by a hamstring injury after struggling with calf complaints for most of 2024. We likely won't see the England international until the year young.
Except for a sequence where Jeremy Doc put it on his behind, Noussair Mazraoui impressed at the weekend but was substituted in the 78th minute of the game. The Moroccan is dealing with an injury and Amorim has confirmed he will be assessed ahead of Thursday's cup tie.
Mason Mountain has an admirer in Amorim, and the Englishman was included in the Manchester Derby XI. However, Mount lasted barely ten minutes before being benched at the Etihad ground and replaced by Kobbie Mainoo.
The severity of his latest setback is yet to be confirmed, but Amorim bluntly stated in his pre-match press conference that Mount is “not available”.
United have no injuries in attack but Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were left out of the squad for Sunday's game. The chief suggested a host of factors were at play when deciding. to remove the pair, and Rashford has done so ever since hinted that a move away from Manchester might be necessary.
However, Amorization has opened the door for quick returns: “They are training, so we will see,” he said. “We also have a training (session), as I said in the press conference, they are our players. We are better off with them.
“If they face training and commitment with their teammates, they will be ready to play.”
