'We want to win' – Saka scores for Arsenal after Carabao Cup win

Bukayosaka says Arsenal are fully committed to winning both the Premier League and Champions League this season.

The Gunners have narrowly missed out on the Premier League title in recent years, finishing runners-up to Manchester City in the last two seasons.

Currently sitting third in the table and six points off the top of the table, Arsenal remain firmly in the title race as the festive season approaches.

Arsenal reached the quarter-finals last season after a six-year absence from the Champions League, and Saka is keen to push the team further this season.

“We are not afraid,” Saka told BBC Sport.

“The last two seasons we have been competing for the league and it has been very close. It's also back in the Champions League – we've got some experience so we feel ready to compete for every trophy.

“We really want to get to that next level and try to achieve something.”

Arsenal won the FA Cup in 2020.

As part of that triumphant side, Saka endured several near misses, including two Premier League runners-up finishes and two European Championship final defeats.

Reflecting back on those disappointments, Saka says, “It was terrible. I'll be honest. It's extra fuel and extra motivation for me. I definitely want to try to top the points table and lift the trophy this season.

“You've worked all season and you're so close, you've got a handful of trophies, you're in the final, or you're there to win the Premier League or whatever title you're competing for – and then you don't win. It's like a whole year's work and you have nothing to show for it.

“I know we can be proud of the season and the evolution and development, but that's why we want to go to the next level and win.”

At just 23 years old, Saka has become indispensable to Arsenal and the England national team.

Despite being compared to legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, one of his childhood idols, Saka insists external recognition is not his focus.

“I feel like I know what I want in the game; People are always talking about doing something or not doing it,” he explained.

“Even if we had won, people would still be talking. So no matter what people say, 'You do your life,' so my mentality is justified.
