Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed Mason Mount's latest injury will keep him out for “a few weeks”.
The 25-year-old left in the early stages of last weekend's Manchester derby – a game United won 2-1 thanks to late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo – having been sidelined with a thigh injury earlier in the season.
Mount's first season at Old Trafford was also blighted by injuries, limiting him to just 14 Premier League appearances and he has been restricted to just 243 minutes of action during 2024/25.
Speaking at his latest press conference, Amorim confirmed that Mount's seventh injury layoff united career is important that will sideline him for the foreseeable future.
“A couple of weeks (he'll be out). I don't know the exact date, but it's going to be long. That's it. It's part of football and we move on.” Amorimi said.
Asked about Mount's continued efforts to stay fit, he continued: “That's not my department. What I can do is help him learn to play our game while he's recovering, to give him that time to think about different things.
“The worst part is that we don't have time to train like you have to when you're recovering from a lot of injuries – like you have to. We're always travelling, we don't train enough with the team together. It makes it difficult to recover for the matches.
“You could see with Vic (Lindelof). Vic was recovering, he trained really well, we pushed him, we do all the screens we need to do before we come into a game, but the game is a world completely different. So they We have to have more time to train, it's really difficult, we try to manage it with rotation, but even with rotation it's really difficult to have the whole squad.
“With Mason, we'll help him. It's really hard for a player to be out for that long. He's trying hard. If they try hard, we'll help him all the way.”
United's schedule has been pretty ruthless since the start of the season, with the club taking part in the Europa League and progressing to the Carabao Cup, but the Red Devils are now out of the final competition after losing a topsy-turvy 4-3 quarter-final to Tottenham Hotspur.
The defeat was Amorim's third in eight games since the passing of Erik ten Hag, with the club still mired in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
