Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw has quit the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) over their allegations against the batsman. All this came after the young batsman was dropped from the squad for the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The Mumbai Cricket Association recently named the Mumbai squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. Young batsman Prithvi Shaw was left out of the squad and the omission did not go down well with him as he lashed out at the association for his snobbery for the 50-over tournament.
Prithvi Shaw regularly missed training sessions after turning up at team hotel at six in the morning – MCA
Shaw posted his A-List footage on social media and questioned his team's exit. He also mentioned what remains to be seen, adding that he will bounce back no matter what happens against him.
Following Shaw's post, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) removed the batsman's emotional post. An MCA official told PTI that the player was dropped from the squad on disciplinary grounds as well as fitness issues, which were noticed during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024.
The official noted that Shaw regularly missed training sessions after showing up at the team hotel at “six in the morning” and being out most of the night. Also, some of the senior members of the team complained about his attitude.

Shaw, of late, has come under the huge scanner for his off-field antics as well as on-field performances. In the domestic circuit this year, it has been a terrible outing for him and the selectors had every right to drop him for the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy based on form.
Prithvi Shaw has been torrid with the bat in the domestic season for Mumbai, failing to score in the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
He was dropped from the team midway through the Ranji Trophy after playing 4 games in which he scored 59 runs. In the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he amassed 197 runs at an average of 21.88 with his best of 49 runs coming against Vidarbha in the quarter-finals.
Shaw also went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. The batsman witnessed a massive fall in the game. He was among the few batsmen to score a century on Test debut, but after that, things didn't go well for him.
He last played for India in 2021 and now he is nowhere near the scenes. The road back will be very difficult for him and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to come back or not.
