Manchester City will go into Christmas with some serious problems to sort out after surviving a remarkable defeat at Villarreal this afternoon.
Pep Guardiola's side have won just one of 12 games in all competitions after John Duran and Morgan Rodger gave Aston Villa the three points.
In fact, Rodgers dominated the second half before Duran's 16th-minute opener and City could have suffered a heavier defeat.
The four-time Premier League champions continued to look miles from the best bully of them all, even though Phil Foden was called up in injury time.
Despite injuries, Manchester City could end up in 9th place in the Premier League table with disorganized mess.
Guardiola left Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne on the bench, while Villa's squad news grabbed the headlines as Duran came in ahead of Ollie Watkins.
Early opportunities are begging for Villa.
The Colombian striker almost paid back manager Unai Emery in 19 seconds. Josko Gvardiol cut the ball past John McGinn and Duran was able to clear the goal, but his shot was too early and Stefan Ortega got down well to save.
The German capitalized on the resulting corner and bounced to his left as Pau Torres' header was deflected millimeters off the line.
City were holding up defensively everywhere and it was no surprise when they broke the deadlock shortly after the quarter-hour mark.
The excellent Youri Tielemans picked out Rogers down the left and his unselfish cross was perfect for Duran to fire into the net.

Jack Grealish, who played a pantomime villain against his former club, was City's only bright spark as Matty Cash fired home to Villa's right-hand side. His check saw Foden fire a shot past Emiliano Martinez that was well saved before Grealish himself found his effort blocked by the Argentina keeper.
Walker replaced John Stones at the break, but Cash squandered a good chance three minutes after the restart, firing into the side instead of picking out the Villa shirt inside the box.
Duran had a goal disallowed for offside after 50 minutes, Rodgers cleared the base of the left-hand post and Gvardiol was once again slow and slow.
Rogers punished the old team.
A second goal seemed to be coming, and it duly arrived after 65 minutes. This time, ex-Manchester City player Rodgers was targeted after McGinn initiated a move that brought him into the game.
Morgan Rodgers beat Aston Villa 2-0.
The defensive problem for Manchester City will continue.

Watkins introduced for Duran and almost made an immediate impact with a low shot from Ortega making a good save.
Fodan scored his first league goal in stoppage time as a substitute, capitalizing on some neat work from Savinho to provide relief for a City who continued to struggle.
