Uttar Pradesh captain Sameer Rizvi etched his name in the record books after his stellar performance with the bat in the State A Men's U23 Trophy. The right-hander slammed the fastest double-century in the history of the tournament.

Uttar Pradesh captain Sameer Rizvi achieved the feat in the match against Tripura on Saturday (December 21). The match between the two teams took place at the Kotambi B Ground, Vadodara and saw history written.

The Uttar Pradesh bowlers then finished the job as they restricted the Tripura team to a total of 253 runs to win the game by 152 runs and gain important points in the U23 Men's State A Trophy as they led from the front in the game , which took place in Vadodara.

This knock of his, however, will not count in List A. The record for the fastest double century in List A is currently held by New Zealand's Chad Bowes. He broke the record held by India's Narayan Jagadeesan and Australia's Travis Head. Both the batsmen reached the 114-ball mark during the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Marsh Cup respectively.
