4.05 Wolverhampton – Onesmoothoperator and Claymore title
A nine race event from Wolverhampton, BetUK Bet Club Handicap Free Bets (4.05), plays one of this year's candidates for the Melbourne Cup, Onesmooth operator.
Brian Ellison's six-year-old, who won the 2024 Northumberland Plate, returned home in the intermediate division at Flemington after winning the Geelong Cup in Australia.
Claymore, winner at Royal Ascot in 2022, ran his best race for some time when third at Newcastle on his last start and rates a huge danger if he can improve for this step up to 12 furlongs.
Alan King's Paradise did well and was third at Southwell last month and will be a danger under Hector Crouch, while Haku boasts five track and distance wins for Mark Loughnane. Stretched out (Craig Lidster) and Dream Harder (Ian Williams) completes the field.
2.17 Fontwell – Lingfield winner Spike Jones looks to continue
A Fontwell favourite Spike Jonesa three-time winner on the track, is back in action Golden Era of Betting: BetMGM Handicap Hurdle (2.17).
Sam Drinkwater's seven-year-old returned to form when scoring at Lingfield on his last outing and could prove difficult to beat if he is in similar form here.
Hidden History won the Lingfield maiden hurdle back in February and will be hoping to build on his repeat season performance at his second handicap start.
The rest is worth noting Shutupshirley who was last seen winning at Wincanton in December 2022.
2.00 Sedgefield – Yealand clash with in-form Kaproyale
There's more jumping at Sedgefield, where a trio of recent winners meet in the Fairlight Studios Merry Christmas All Handicap Chase (2.00).
Yealand made his debut in a winning chase when taking down the Doncaster Novice Handicap and a repeat of that effort would move him closer to a 4lb higher mark.
Kaproyale has won three of his six starts over fences and looks to have strong claims as he makes his seasonal return for trainer Max Comley.
Meanwhile, the 11-year-old Paddy Pie rolled back the years to score at this track earlier this month and a £5 penalty may not stop him from continuing.
