'Washington can replace Sundar R Ashwin' – Cheteshwar Pujara picks India's 11th change for Brisbane Test
Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara has overtaken Washington Sundar Ravichandran Ashwin Playing in XI for Brisbane Test in India. The 36-year-old pointed out that the tourists need to strengthen their batting after being bundled out twice in Adelaide. He recently told Star Sports:
“I feel that only one change can happen. R Ashwin may be replaced by Washington Sundar as the batting is not good. Who should replace Harshit Rana? I think not. You supported him and he did well in the first match.”
Sundar returned with scores of 4 and 29 and took two wickets in the first Test in Perth, which India won by 295 runs. In total, the 25-year-old has 24 wickets and 387 runs in seven Tests, including three half-centuries.
Pujara, meanwhile, backed Harshit Rana despite his shutout in the second Test. He said:
“He is a good baller. You can't drop him just because one match went badly. Probably the only change for me would be Sundar for Ashwin if the team needs to strengthen the batting line-up.
Harshit Rana finished with 0/86 for 16 in the second Test.
