The January transfer window is fast approaching, offering clubs more opportunities to strengthen their squads.
After the summer window Silverware chasers turned their attention to the summer market with those keen to strengthen their bids and bridge the gap.
Despite a summer of big-money transfers, Premier League spending has dropped significantly compared to previous years.
Until January, the only way clubs can sign new talent is through free agents. But soon, scouts and athletic directors are poised to hit the market again.
Here's everything you need to know about the January transfer window, including key dates from Europe's top leagues.
When does the January transfer window open?

The January 2025 transfer window for clubs in the Premier League and English Football League officially opens on New Year's Day on Wednesday.
Scottish Premier League French Ligue 1 Several other major leagues, including Germany's Bundesliga and Saudi Pro League, will begin their winter season on January 1.
However, Spain's La Liga and Italy's Serie A will start their winter business on January 2.
Even other leagues open later, with Belgium opening on January 7 and Turkey on January 13.
Meanwhile, five European countries, Albania, Cyprus Denmark Greece and Kosovo will open on January 1 and close on January 31.
In the United States, The Major League Soccer transfer window begins on January 31st. Unlike Europe, It serves as the league's main transfer window from the start of the MLS season during the summer until April 23.

Opening dates vary by league, but most of Europe's top leagues close their January transfer window on the same day.
England France Germany The deadline for clubs in Italy and Spain to finalize deals is Monday. It's February 3rd.
Interestingly, the Saudi Pro League, which extended past Europe's summer transfer deadline, will close its winter window early on January 30.
However, Turkey will keep its transfer window open longer than most European leagues.
Turkish clubs will have until February 11 to finalize their signings to sell players to teams in other leagues after their windows close.

In some countries, The winter migration period extends well into February or later.
Russia runs from January 23 to February 20, and Poland from January 23 to February 22.
The Czech Republic closely follows Poland from January 26 to February 22, while Ukraine runs between January 27 and March 11.
These extended windows give clubs in those countries more time to make mid-season changes.
Can players sign after the transfer deadline?
For Premier League clubs, They can only add free agent players and if there is room on their 25 man.
This means there is very little movement when the window closes and only four months until the window opens again.
Players can be released by Premier League clubs at any time, but the normal rule is that they cannot sign for another club outside the market.
