Mikel Arteta accepts Arsenal transfer following injuries to Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted the Gunners could be forced to turn to him tRANSFER market after Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling both picked up injuries.

Saka limped off during the recent win over Crystal Palace with a hamstring problem that Arteta predicted would keep him out for “many weeks“, before substitute Raheem Sterling went into training with a knee problem.

That leaves Arsenal without any natural right-back as they head into a hectic festive period and Arteta admitted a new signing may be required.

“If something incredible is available and if the club is willing to do it, we will have to consider it,” Arteta said. “The preparation is done and we are ready if something happens.

“We didn't anticipate a situation with Bukayo and Raheem at the same time. We anticipated more that it would be something else: for example, the defensive line. We started the season with one of the thinnest teams in the Premier League – we knew it. .”

Arteta, however, stressed that Arsenal's squad is full of experienced players to fill in on the right side of attack.

“(Gabriel Martinelli), this is the first one we have gone through, especially because he has played there before,” explained Arteta. He played the last game there against Everton and the last game of the season. He did very well. He did very well the other day, he scored a goal and created an assist and is a good option to have.

“Gabby (Jesus) has played there. Ethan (Nwaneri) has played there, Leo (Trossard) can play there with the way that unit moves. Kai (Havertz) can play there, asking him different things .

“We'll see, we'll try different things and ask how they feel about it.”
