Ruben Amorim has challenged Marcus Rashford to step up and lead by example if he wants to return to the Manchester United squad.
Rashford has been left out of Amorim's last three squads, after publicly admitting it the desire to seek a new challenge after being kicked out of the Manchester derby.
Asked what Rashford had failed to show him that the other players in the united Amorim insisted that the 27-year-old has a number of unique responsibilities, which he has yet to fulfill.
“Like any other player, the best they can be. “If you have great talent, (I expect) great performance, great responsibility, great commitment, push everyone forward at this point. Some guys have a great responsibility here because they've been here a long time.
“This is probably one of the lowest moments in our club, so we have to face it and be strong in this moment. That's what I want from every player in the team.”
Amorim went on to confirm reports that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and those in charge at United were not involved in his decision to drop Rashford.
“He wants to play,” Amorim said of Rashford. “He's trying. It's my decision and only my decision.
“I spoke to many players individually during training. I'm doing it”.
