The Women's Super League (WSL) has officially adjourned for the winter break after 10 crazy action-packed days so far.
After a rampant run from the first minute, Chelsea have extended their lead at the top of the table to six points. An injured Manchester City side trail the Blues by six points after a shock 2-1 defeat at Everton on matchday 10.
Arsenal have made headlines in recent weeks as they made up ground on their disappointing start to the 2024/25 campaign. The Gunners have gone 11 games unbeaten under interim manager Renee Slegers, and currently trail Man City by a single point.
Manchester United remain in the mix at the top of the table, sitting just below the Gunners on goal difference.
Here it is 90 minutes predicting who will win the WSL this season.
Game 10 had all the twists and turns as Chelsea finally had their winning streak snapped by a strong Leicester City side at the King Power Stadium. An early opener from Missy Goodwin put the Foxes on course for all three points, before Wieke Kaptein managed to pull it back level.
As for second-placed City, Gareth Taylor's side were beaten by Everton at Walton Hall Park. Missing some of their biggest stars, Man City had no answers to what was asked of them and missed the chance to close the gap on Chelsea.
Arsenal took the opportunity to make up for lost time as a 1-0 win over Liverpool was enough to take all three points on Merseyside. Whether or not the Gunners have left the title race a little late is the question, but they are certainly in contention to overtake City in the standings.
Manchester United are also in contention for Champions League qualification, but have shown their weaknesses could leave them out of the title race altogether.
Chelsea's fast start puts them in the driver's seat for the second half of the season and with the quality of squad they possess, it should be a smooth ride. Sonia Bompastor will welcome back Lauren James, Sam Kerr and Mia Fishel in the new year, something that will have many opponents scared off.
With Arsenal and Man City also in the Champions League, the Blues won't have to worry about playing more games than their WSL counterparts.
As for the race for second, we predict that Arsenal can reach second place if they are to maintain their current form. Taylor has shown his vulnerability when dealing with adversity time and time again, and it looks like this spell of injury could lead to the same result.
City will need to regain their composure if they are to continue to put the heat on Chelsea at the top. Head coach Taylor confirmed that City are 'hoping to do business' in the January transfer window to help fill the holes left by current injuries to Alex Greenwood, Lauren Hemp, Vivianne Miedema and Khadija Shaw.
If Arsenal can agree a deal with Renee Slegers until the end of the season, the north London side could have enough momentum to continue competing at a high level. January's interest in Keira Walsh could also help to strengthen this Arsenal squad if they are able to agree a deal for the England midfielder.
