The competition has six teams: Auckland Hearts, Canterbury Magicians, Wellington Blaze, Central Hinds, Northern Districts and Otago Sparks. The tournament will follow a double-robin format, where each team will play home and away games. The top three teams at the end of the preliminary stage will advance to the playoffs, culminating in the final at Basin Reserve on 2 February.
Unlike the league stage, which does not feature Super Overs in fantasy matches, the practice matches will incorporate the Super Overs feature, ensuring a smooth transition into the finals.
The upcoming edition celebrates 20 years of T20 cricket in New Zealand, with a fun touch as the teams wear retro jerseys inspired by the first T20I between the White Ferns and the Southern Stars (now Australia Women), which was played at Eden Park twenty years ago ago. .
